Introduction
Hi all, my name is Martin Meijburg. In the past year I have finished the Master International Relations in Historical Perspective. Within this study I have become specialised in European integration, and have focussed my study as much on Eastern Europe/former Soviet space as I could. Consequently, my MA thesis’ topic was about religious nationalism in Georgia, and how the EU deals with this religious nationalism in their enlargement policy. At the moment, I’m writing an article about it which will be published in the next GA! Magazine.

Before I have studied history with a specialisation in social and economic history. With a minor in Asian modern history and transatlantic history I am also interested in these areas.

One of my hobbies is music. In the past I’ve performed in a band as guitar player. Besides, at this moment I try to play piano autodidactically. I am also an amateur DJ, and sometimes perform at parties. Besides music I really like learning languages. In the coming time I would like to improve my Russian skills after having done three courses in Russian. I have also started to learn Mandarin. Other hobbies for example are sports, cooking, reading, and listening podcasts.

I joined GA! because I wanted to stay involved in the field of history and IR, regardless of where I might find a job in the future. Making podcasts has interested me for some time, because I just like conversations about interesting topics. For me I think I can learn some valuable skills in interviewing and making a product out of it. Also I can meet some interesting people which can be valuable in the future. My plan is to make the podcasts at GA! More aligned with the monthly theme if that’s possible. At this point I try to gather as many people as possible that have some knowledge of (future) monthly topics of the GA! think tank. Therefore, my first plan is to make an overview in Google Drive with possible contacts for future podcasts (or for other ends), so if you talk to someone or know someone who might be interested in a conversation, you can put in the contact or let me know. 😊
